Research Field

Our research focus has been to explore how atomic and electronic structures affect materials properties. The tools of choice are ultrahigh-resolution transmission electron microscopy, electron energy loss spectroscopy, and first-principles methods. Current research areas include surface science and catalysis of metals and oxides, microstructure in intermetallics, and structural transition and interfaces in transition metal oxides. We have published about 100 papers in peer-reviewed journals, including Phys. Rev. Lett, J. Am. Chem. Soc., Acta Mater.
